Just take a look at Ping.sg’s top stories.
I’m sure everyone have noticed that the top stories, or the most ping-ed blog posts, are either about sex, money, blog advertisement opportunities, or simply scandalous titles.
I can’t deny that I am guilty when it comes to clicking on scandalous titles, but is fabricating stories and making your blog posts like a free-to-read versions of paparazzi news to increase traffic a moral thing to do? I felt cheated when I entered http://noitcif.blogspot.com to read about juicy news only to find out that it’s a fictional blog. Sure, fictional news can be entertaining, but I still feel cheated.
Is it justifiable that people are posting more and more vice-related posts for the sake of traffic? Well, actually I think it is. Just like how the tabloids would publish news that are half-truths and scandalous, disregarding the impact of such news to the celebrity, but it makes money.
I guess I should follow the trends by buffing my blog entries to make them sound colourful and exciting. But don’t blame me for posting half-truths!
